Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

A: Our inspiration for the wedding was really to find something as simple but eclectic and unique as we are. We really enjoy nature and the outdoors and wanted to bring that into the moment!

Since our wedding was in late October, the cusp of Fall, we wanted to keep the colors in line with the season and were drawn to a Wine and Navy palette.

Q: Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

A: Dream Makers Wedding Estates actually did all the decorations! They were absolutely amazing and had a wonderful set up.

Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

A: Other than the greenery and flowers used by the venue to add to the decorations, all of the flowers and boutonnieres used on the bridal party were we made by me. I'm a DIYer so I knew I could make something that was still pretty and fit our wedding.

Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

A: We tried to personalize the space by having Dream Makers Wedding Estates add in some older looking furniture so give it that mismatched vibe and we had the wedding DJ'd by Mad Hatter Entertainment! He was an amazing DJ and was do instrumental to everyone having a wonderful time on the dance floor!

Q: Let's talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

A: Honestly, we both kind of just shot from the hip and did our looks as we went!

We were so preoccupied with family and staying in a timeline we both ended up just doing our everyday looks for the wedding.

He had his comb-over and I tried to keep my make up really simple minus the eyelashes (magnetic) and my hair. I only curled my hair last minute because I didn't like it straight.

Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: We met in early 2014 at work in the Marine Corps.

We became quick friends and soon began dating. The proposal came quite awhile after that in September 2017. His mom came to visit and we were showing her Downtown Wilmington, as we were walking the River-walk she pointed out a seagull and I thought to myself, why is she excited about a seagull? But then he popped down and whipped out a ring!!!!

Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

A: I think the most anticipated part for me was the vows because I had planned mine out and written them a few times.

Whereas he had said he was just going to wing it... Which he did.

For him the most anticipated moment was just it being final and us being married!

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: Just don't worry about anyone or anything else.

The wedding is for you guys so make it what you want and not what everyone else wants, I can't stress that enough!!

Keep the wedding cellphone and camera free so your wedding photos don't have everyone looking at phones or taking pictures you'd hate!
