Tryon Palace | New Bern | Historical Destination Wedding Planning | Editorial

Tryon Palace, originally known as the Governor's Palace, New Bern, was the official residence and administrative headquarters of the British governors of North Carolina from 1770 to 1775.

Located at 529 S Front St, New Bern, NC 28562 the palace was often at the center of state occasions and royal hospitality. Today, the Palace lives on as a testament to history, community and rebirth.

Amongst its many charms, it has become a place for gathering to celebrate events and weddings.

With more more than 16 acres of gardens and landscapes, the Palace Gardens were designed by noted landscape architect Morley Jeffers Williams in the 1950s and represent the formal garden style of 18th-century Britain. The beauty of this place allows plants selected survive both periods of flooding and of dry soil, and provide food and shelter for numerous animals.

The gardens are open for self-guided tours with purchase of a One Day Pass, Galleries Pass or Gardens Pass. Call 800-767-1560, for more information.

Brides choose the gardens for bridal and engagement portraits. This gorgeous area offers so much. We agreed to photograph this editorial piece, how can we pass up an opportunity to work with area vendors and the gardens in itself - a dream come true! Many of these images will be published soon for a wedding article and planning ideas as well. The details and gorgeous accents reflect the classic and historical vibe - vivid and colorful palettes that speak of romanticism and beauty. Some images were taken at the
