Sunday was a great day and we spent the afternoon with Jacob and Julia, needless to say ... it was phenomenal -
Jacob had her grandmothers ring resized and re-set to Julia’s specs - after the happy surprise and the tears... they enjoyed a glass of champagne along with delicious charcuterie [ Julia's favorite ]
The newly engaged couple FaceTimed with her parents who toasted along with them and they both had a little time together before while the sun was setting ... We took a few photographs.
Massive thanks to the following planners and designers Whimsically Wed and W.Designs by Whitney for making Jacob’s perfect vision for his proposal to Julia a dream come true. Colorful florals, olive branches, blushes and crystal clear with gray linen and black metallic chairs - overlooking the water, at Sound Side Park in Surf City, NC.
Julia could not believe it! She kept saying: 'What??? What the H?? Is this true?? NAH!!!!' it was so great and cute to see her react, Her face kept hiding into Jacob as her hugged her. Our hearts were racing of excitement and It was quite the moment to witness.
Can you see it in their smiles?
Inspirations and Groom's Vision: Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet? A: I moved to Roanoke, VA our Junior year of high school, we weren't that close in high school, but all of her guy friends she grew up with quickly became my best friends, and still are to this day. When Julia came home after graduating from UVA we began to hang out more through mutual friends. Shortly after that we became closer and after some persuasion on my part we went on our first date. Now a couple of years later here we are, preparing to get married!
Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique? A: Julia and I have a very special relationship in the sense of how we truly are best friends, as cliché as that sounds. We push each other to be better people and we have a lot of the same interests and enjoy doing the same things. Life with Julia never gets boring and that's what makes our relationship work so well.
Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always) A: It didn't take long into our relationship for me to realize that Julia was the one for me. I had not (and still have not) met any person that I clicked so well with. We were pretty inseparable from day one and I still couldn't imagine my life without her.
Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process? A: The proposal was weeks worth of planning - special shutout to the HR ladies at my work for helping me! I proposed to Julia at Sound Side park at in Surf City, NC, where my family owns a condo. We love Topsail and I knew that was the place I wanted this special moment to take place. The proposal itself was done at sunset and we had staged Allie and her team to ask us if they could take photos of us for the Topsail Journal. We of course agreed and after the first 1-2 photos I dropped down on one knee and asked Julia to marry me! Huge thank you to Allie and Taylor for having everything setup and making it a huge success! We ended the night with champagne setup on the pier at Sound Side Park and enjoying phone calls with our closest friends and family. Unfortunately Hurricane Florence cut our vacation short, but we were able to return home and celebrate with friends and family!
Q: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring! A: The ring is very special to both Julia and myself. The ring was her grandmother's on her mom's side, Honey. I never got to meet Honey unfortunately but I have been told we would have gotten along great. It was special to me that I was allowed to use her beautiful ring to give to Julia because I know Honey and Julia had a special relationship and it makes me proud to know that the ring Honey wore will continue to be used in the family.
Q: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet? A: Yes we are excited to start planning the wedding! We began the planning process fairly quickly after we got engaged, and we hope to have a lot of the process finished a few months ahead of time to relieve some of the stress as the wedding approaches. We are going to be getting married at Julia's family lake house at Smith Mountain Lake, they have a beautiful lake house and the perfect property to host the wedding that Julia has always wanted.
Again thank you to Allie and Taylor for all of the work you guys did to make our proposal special!
